How Color Matching WorksStop Dreading Getting Ready

It’s a big day, and you’re filled with anticipation. Today, you’ll be taking the lead in an important meeting at work, where all eyes will be on you. Naturally, you want to make a lasting impression, ensuring that you not only look your best but also feel confident and self-assured. However, there’s one minor hurdle that stands in your way—the arduous task of selecting your outfit. Is it the overwhelming number of options in your closet that leaves you undecided, or is it simply the pre-morning coffee haze that clouds your judgment? Either way, the result is always the same: you find yourself gravitating toward the same safe ensemble. The outfit doesn’t really represent your personality or business ambitions at all, but at least you know it looks professional and will do the job.

If this resonates with you, fear not, for I bring forth an idea that will revolutionize your wardrobe choices. Enter: color matching! This approach to assembling your attire each day—be it for a momentous meeting or a regular day at the office—can help transform the act of getting dressed into a breezy and enjoyable experience, allowing you to savor that blissful cup of morning coffee.

How Color Matching Works

1. The first step to color matching is to choose colors from your closet that work well together—I usually go with three. Maybe you want to link together cream, white, and tan for a smart, sleek look. Or perhaps you’re feeling bolder, and you choose magenta, navy and gold to really make a splash.

2. Once you’ve chosen your colors, it’s time to go on a scavenger hunt. Find all the pieces from your closet that have those colors, and don’t forget to include accessories, too. Your belts, hats, sunglasses and bags are all part of your look and can tie everything together.

3. Now that you have your items, mix and match. Grab all the pieces you need for a complete look, and you are ready to go. Here’s an example: Pair tailored navy pants with a bold-magenta blouse and a belt with gold detailing on it. Add gold earrings, a navy bag and magenta shoes to bring the whole look together.

Stop Dreading Getting Ready

It doesn’t take long to get good at building outfits this way. My clients have attested to the paradigm shift it brings—an enlightening transformation of what was once a dreaded, but necessary, daily task. Color matching allows you to see what colors work well together and how they can be paired with other items in your closet to help you get dressed in a snap, no matter what you have planned for the day.

Stay tuned for my blog post on the Rule of Three to learn more about choosing colors that pair well together, and book a call if putting together your outfit each morning makes you want to stay in bed. Remember, your outfit is a reflection of your vibrant persona, and I am here to help you showcase it to the world!
